Erin Mullenex is an artist and teacher currently living and working in Knoxville, TN. Growing up on an abandoned farm in southeastern Virginia, Mullenex developed a fascination with the past that inhabits all her work. Using ephemera from a wide variety of sources as a starting point, she explores the ways in which society categorizes and memorializes our lived experience. Her drawings, prints, and collages touch on issues of land use, history, and storytelling. Mullenex received a BA in Printmaking and Art History from the University of Virginia and a MFA in Studio Art from the University of Tennessee. Her work has been shown in various galleries throughout the United States. In addition to her studio practice, Mullenex is a committed public school educator, striving to teach studio skills and critical thinking to her elementary age students.
